Dermaplaning Benefits

By removing the top layer of the skin, dermaplaning leaves skin feeling smooth and looking healthy and bright. It also creates the perfect base for make-up, allowing other skin care products to be more readily absorbed, giving skin a more even tone and texture. Fine lines and wrinkles are also removed and marks and spots faded giving skin a fresh look.

Dermaplaning also helps to remove dull skin cells from the skinโ€™s surface, which can help to reduce the appearance of uneven skin tone and fine lines and wrinkles, especially those caused by mild pigmentation. Dermaplaning can be used on most skin types and is a fantastic addition to any current skin care regime, helping to keep skin smooth and clear for longer. It is a non-invasive treatment that does not penetrate the skin, meaning there is no recovery time and it can be used as an alternative to microdermabrasion.

How Long Does Dermaplaning Last?

Dermaplaning usually lasts for around 3 to 4 weeks and then your skin will return to normal and start to flake and peel. It is a treatment that can be used on a regular basis to help to keep your skin smooth. For the best results it is recommended to have a treatment every 4 weeks. You will be given aftercare advice to follow after your dermaplaning treatment to ensure that your skin remains healthy and looking good and to prevent any unwanted effects.

Dermaplaning treatments work on the outer most layer of the skin, removing dead skin cells and facial hair. Removing the dead skin cells allows for better penetration of skin care products, creating healthy glowing skin and improving the skin texture. Typically Dermaplaning treatments are carried out on a monthly basis for best results and to keep the skin looking fresh.

How does dermaplaning work?

Dermaplaning works by using a very fine and sterile surgical blade to remove the top layers of the skin, removing dead skin cells and fine facial hair. Once these dead skin cells have been removed the skin feels smooth and look bright. In addition, the texture of the skin has been improved allowing other products to be absorbed into the skin a lot better.

There are many benefits to hayfever injections, which includes:

  • Removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz
  • Brightens dull skin
  • Creates smoother skin texture
  • Helps makeup apply more evenly
  • Enhances skincare product absorption

Dermaplaning typically takes around 30-45 minutes to perform, however this can vary from person to person depending on the area to be treated as well as if any other treatments or products are going to be used in conjunction with the dermaplaning treatment.

The skin will have been gently exfoliated removing the outer layers of skin; as such there is little to no downtime after a dermaplaning treatment.

Results from dermaplaning can be instantaneous and the skin will look smooth, refreshed and brighter immediately after treatment.

First the skin is cleaned with a special skin cleanser and then we can start the dermaplaning treatment. As previously mentioned Dermaplaning is a very gentle treatment and most people find it very relaxing throughout the process.

Redness, sensitivity or slight irritation after treatment are minimal and only temporary, returning to normal quickly.

After Dermaplaning apply a daily SPF, avoid using harsh scrubs or peel, and keep your skin moisturised.

Dermaplaning Essex FAQs

Does dermaplaning make hair grow back thicker?

This is a common myth that dermaplaning makes your facial hair grow back thicker, darker or faster but this is not the case. Dermaplaning removes the fine vellus hair from the surface of the skin, also known as peach fuzz.

Is dermaplaning good for acne scars?

As dermaplaning removes the top layer of the skin it can be used to treat and improve the appearance of mild acne scarring. Dermaplaning works by exfoliating the skin to leave it smooth, allowing the skin to return to its smoothest state. The surface of the skin will appear to be smoother and fresher with a brighter look. Dermaplaning is not suitable for those with active acne as it could cause further breakouts. Please consult with a clinician to see if this treatment would be suitable for you and to discuss any alternative treatments that may be of more benefit to your skin.

How often should you have a dermaplaning facial?

Dermaplaning is recommended every 3-4 weeks to allow time for your skin to return to its normal cell turnover. After this time your skin will start to look dull and a treatment is needed to exfoliate your skin back to a smooth state.

Can dermaplaning help with dull skin?

For dull skin it is very effective as it removes the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. As a result, your skin will look brighter and smoother. Immediately after the treatment your skin will look fresh and it will also allow your products to penetrate much deeper than before.

Is dermaplaning suitable for sensitive skin?

Dermaplaning is a gentle treatment so is suitable for most people with sensitive skin. However a consultation would need to take place to assess your skin and decide if Dermaplaning is for you.
