Laser hair removal is a versatile treatment that can reduce hair growth on most areas of the body.
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a fast and effective way to achieve long-term hair reduction. Unlike other methods such as shaving and waxing, laser hair removal targets the hair follicle and a concentrated laser beam which reduces the hair growth over time. The treatment is precise and targets only the hair, while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. Most laser hair removal sessions are reasonably quick, taking only around 15-20 minutes per session on average. It’s important to remember that multiple sessions are required to achieve maximum results, which is why we offer our treatments in courses of 6 sessions. After the first few treatments, you will start to see a significant reduction in hair growth of the treated area.
OUR LASER DEVICE
We are proud to use the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus® Laser for our hair removal treatments. The Candela GentleMax Pro Plus® Laser is the industry-leading FDA approved device. It combines dual wavelengths, which means, it is the perfect laser for all skin types! Another reason the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus® Laser is so popular is that it does not require any Gel or Lubricant to be used! Yes, that means no sticky mess – providing a quick, clean and comfortable treatment all round.
Your laser hair removal session will be completed in approximately 15–30 minutes per area, subject to the area being treated.
Whilst there is no official downtime, you should avoid sun exposure due to risk of burning and avoid hot baths for 2 weeks.
Results vary depending on hair and skin type, but you should notice a difference in hair growth after the 1st treatment and a significant difference after the 3rd treatment.
Laser hair removal involves using a laser to target the pigmentation in the hair, lasing it to reduce hair re-growth. During the treatment, cool air will be applied to the area for added comfort.
As with any treatment there are potential risks. This could include burning, swelling, redness and temporary discomfort at the treatment site, but these effects typically resolve quickly. It is important to follow the correct pre-treatment and aftercare advice.
Before laser hair removal you should not have sun exposure to the skin for at least 2 weeks. No visible tan (fake tan, natural or uv) should be present on the skin. The skin should also be free from lotions and moisturiser. Post treatment hot baths and sun exposure should be avoided. A calming gel such as aloe vera can be used to moisturise the area.

Laser Hair Removal FAQs
Do I need a patch test?
Ideally yes, we recommend a patch test completed 24 hours prior to treatment where possible. Our patch tests are free and are included in our Laser hair consultation.
Can I go in the sun after my session?
Sun exposure should be avoided for at least two weeks post-treatment to prevent any complications such as skin burns or pigmentation changes. If you must be in the sun, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to protect the treated areas.
What should I do if I experience irritation?
Some mild discomfort or swelling is common after laser hair removal and usually subsides within a few hours. If discomfort persists, applying a cooling gel like aloe vera can help soothe the area. If you experience severe discomfort or signs of infection, contact your practitioner for further advice.
Does it treat ingrown hairs?
Yes, laser hair removal is excellent for treating and preventing ingrown hairs. The laser targets and destroys the hair follicle, reducing the chance of hair curling back into the skin.
How long should I wait between sessions?
The typical interval between sessions is 4 to 6 weeks, sometimes up to 8 weeks depending on the area and hair growth cycle. This allows time for the hair growth cycle to progress, making the treatment more effective.
